My all time favorite holiday! We took some cute pictures of the kids with the flag in the morning, but really didn’t do much most of the day. In fact the kids fell asleep that afternoon and we hadn’t even done anything yet! We hit the fireworks stands in the evening to get some supplies and then headed over to our friends house for dinner and fireworks.
The kids all had fun playing, we brought the Styrofoam airplane and that got a lot of use. Nathan had fun playing with a Buzz Lightyear toy and Natalie played games with Megan. Dinner was a taco bar and everything was delicious. Malia made chocolate strata for desert and it was a hit as well!
After dinner we started the fireworks, Nathan really enjoyed the poppers. Then we started smoke bombs, snakes, those little tanks and some firecrackers. Nathan enjoyed lighting the smoke bombs and running away from the tanks!
Natalie was old enough to start doing stuff by herself and I must say, I think I taught her well. She lit off pretty much everything by herself, the only person to get hurt was me. She wanted to start lighting and throwing so we started with flower, I wasn’t paying attention and the fuse went quick and I got a spark on my lip.
When it got darker, we started shooting off the flowers, cones and assorted night displays. The last big stuff we shot off were the motars, those were fun. The only disappointing part was there were 2 duds, I guess that’s what I get when I don’t buy BlackCat all the way 😉
